Season 2004 to 2005 Review
After securing first division football the previous season Redcar set themselves three main targets.
An improvement on their league position, a good cup run and to concede no more than 1.5 goals per game.
Eight months later all three tasks were complete.
In the league Redcar stormed up the table finishing a respectable fourth and after a 17 game unbeaten run, it was no surprise that they reached TWO major FINALS , Winning the T.J.F.A. Challenge Cup Final 3-1 against Marton H.D
and unluckily finishing runners up in the North Riding County Cup FINAL to Marton F.C.
The season finished on a high again undefeated at home in the league at their new home of the Redcar Rugby Club and two superb tournament performances,
one at South Park Rangers where they finished up Winners after beating the hosts 2-0 in the final and
the other WINNING the Brotton Shield 7 a side competition
Thanks have to go out to Mick our secretary who's hard work is second to none and to Sue for the preparation of the match day drinks etc,
also to Tommy Turner for two season's of excellent refereeing and to the parents who support me fully in whatever decision I make,
but most of all …………….The Players.
The 2004/5 season has been the most successful yet and hopefully the start of many to come.
Thanks Steve
Season 2003 to 2004 Review
After making the big step up from 7-a-side to competitive 11-a-side, Redcar set their stall out and finished a
creditable 6th in Division 1, thus securing 1st Division football for next season.
The highlight of the season was our clinical finishing in front of goal, scoring a total of 106 league and cup goals
in 24 matches, with our top scorer hitting 33 goals and more impressively the rest of the team chipped in with a
brilliant 73 goals.
Great team performances included thrashing a very good Billingham Town side 4-0 and a battle at Fishburn which we
won 3-1 with only the bare eleven players.
The season ended with two big plus points, one of which was doing the double over the four teams below us in the
league, with our nearest rivals a massive 12 points behind us.
The other a superb tournament performance at South Park, playing in the Under 12's. After winning all three group
matches, we came up against the 'big boys' in the semi-finals, dispatching Trimdon 4-1 on penalties, before meeting
North Ormesby in the final where we battled well and considered ourselves unlucky to lose 1-0.
Finally a big thank you to Tommy Turner, newly crowned 'Referee of the Year', for officiating our matches and
also to the parents for their excellent support during the season.
WELL DONE TO THE LADS!!!
