Season 2004 to 2005 Review
Once again the lads have done us all proud and brought some more silverware home for the 4th successive season. 3rd place in the 1st
1st Divison was follwed up with a 1-0 win over Marton in the League cup final at Hurworth.
The Season started well with a 3-0 win against Cleveland Jnrs, followed up with a 13-0 thumping of Saltburn in the League Cup
The following week saw us on the wrong end of a 5-0 scoreline at Greatham but we never lost another league game until 16th January after
that, proving very hard to beat! The return of Mitchell Morris from MFC academy was like a new signing to us. It lifted the team,
Lewis Gledhill's wing play down the right was at times fantastic. Jacob Dukes athleticism and aggression in defence definitely saved us points
and kept us clean sheets. But to be honest, all the players have been fantastic. Their positional awareness and appreciation of their
teamates around them has been a pleasure to watch. This became evident in the League Cup semi-final, away to Stokesley in late
February. Stokesley never had a shot on goal. Fionn Crawley and Mitchell Morris scored two superb goals, one a volley and the other a cute lob.
The workrate that day from our 5 man midfield was exceptional. It certainly won us the game and so we were through to our second
successive league cup final.
We are now fast approaching April. Marton, Stokesley and Norton all to play at home. If we want, at worst runners up, then no less than 7 points will be needed,
we drew two and lost to Stokesley who hadn't beat us for 4 seasons. So we ended up finishing 3rd in the 1st division.
Not bad I hear you say, but it's not over yet! Next it's Marton in the cup final. Four seasons in one day, the weather was unbelieveable!
To be fair, the boys were excellent, Marton were made to look poor because we didn't allow them to play. So up steps James Rowe to poke one home
with 5 minutes to play, winning the game.
The season had finished just how it had started and yet again the parents have been a pleasure. But without our youngsters it would not have been possible.
They have done us all proud yet again!

Season 2003 to 2004 Review
The Under 10's signaled their intent in the pre-season by winning the Cleveland Juniors August cup, the last of the summer tournaments. A magnificent result against Dom's Diamonds, a team made up of mainly MFC academy players!
The team overcame a slow start in the league to finish up as runners up in the 1st division, despite losing Mitchell Morris, who had previously been our leading goalscorer, to Boro.
The team have played an attractive blend of attacking football playing with exceptional passing and movement which belies their years at times, possibly reflecting the fact that most of them have been playing together since they were 5 years old! Tremendous natural ability allied with hard work has given the team the rewards they richly deserved this season.
Another highlight of the season was winning the League Cup Final against old rivals Stokesley. As always seems to be the case against Stokesley, the game went to penalties but fortunately the Redcar lads won the day!
The first post-season tournament saw the lads win the final of the South Park Rangers tournament.
Thanks go to the parents whose support both on and off the field is as strong as ever, in particular Jan Bottomley for doing the fundraising on matchdays. A tremendous season to remember and a pleasure to be involved in!
WELL DONE LADS!! Davey/Mark
