This year the Under 10's were competing with the big boys in the TJFA first Division ,
they started off brightly playing attractive football but failing to convert many of
the chances created, thus they drew games they should have won convincingly.
At Christmas they were in 4th place and trailed the League leaders by 10 points
The New Year saw the boys hit top form they destroyed South Park Rangers in the Challenge Cup Semi final winning 5 -2.
In the League they totally outclassed all before them, this tremendous run ensured that they would be
crowned LEAGUE CHAMPIONS winning the title by 1 point.
The team reached the FINAL of the League Challenge Cup held at Hurworth, they totally dominated the match and were leading 2-1
when Coulby Newham equalized 4 minutes into stoppage time, the game went to penalties which we lost.
We defended the cup we won at The Nestle Rowntree Tournament at York last year and despite not playing well the boys
still managed to reach the FINAL losing 2 nil .
Our first bash at the South Park Rangers Tournament saw us play excellent football and we cruised into the FINAL,
we were outstanding, In the final Leven did not have one shot on goal all match, we bombarded their goal and thought
we got our reward when we scored but the only person not to see it was the referee and amazingly he waved play on,
the inevitable happened we lost on penalties again.
At last - WINNERS of the Mount Pleasant Rangers Tournament, beating Coulby Newham 1 - 0 in the FINAL,
playing exciting, at times breath taking football, a joy to watch
We ended our seven aside season by becoming WINNERS of the Norton & Stockton Ancients Tournament contested by teams from all over the North of
England, overcoming the host club 3-1 in the FINAL
This squad of boys have now WON THREE CONSECUTIVE LEAGUE TITLES in Sunday League football and for those of you who
are involved in football will no how hard it is to win a league, to win it three years on the trot is an outstanding
feat as every game is like a cup final as every team wants to beat you. The success on the field is not only down to
the hard work and commitment of the boys but also the excellent contribution of their parents, giving up their time
to mark pitches, setting up goals, fund raising, donating prizes, a special thanks to those parents who supported me
through difficult times, our sponsors GLADWIN CARPETS and, GEOFF CRUST PINE FURNITURE plus the unsung heroes
Chris Brooks, Sandra and Jeff Buckton, Mark Hayward, Stuart Ramsay plus my mate Uncle Buck, the Redcar Town Committee,
who behind the scenes have put many voluntary hours into developing our Club.
Season 2003 to 2004 Review
In my opinion winners are not made but born and this squad of players are certainly winners,
despite losing five players from last seasons Championship winning side they exceeded a lot of peoples
expectations completing a magnificent TREBLE!
The boys Won the M'bro Football in the Community Friday Night Under 9 league in fine style, they played
some attractive football with the meanest defence in the league. Playing 26 games winning 17 drawing 7 losing 2,
scoring 46 and conceding only 4. CHAMPIONS of the Sunday Teesside Junior Alliance league playing in the under 10,s
Division 3 and went through the season losing 1 game drawing 3 and winning 18, another excellent achievement
scoring 66 and conceding 9.
The championship went down to the wire with REDCAR having to go to Stokesley for the last game of the season
needing a victory, and knowing that they had not been beaten there all season.
This was the teams finest hour putting in a championship winning performance and coming away with an
terrific 2-0 VICTORY. Winning The Nestle Rowntree Tournament at York by beating Panel Ash from Harrogate 2-1
AET who previous to this result had been unbeaten in all competitions for 3 years.
Special thanks to all parents for their support, our sponsors GLADWIN CARPETS, plus backroom staff Chris Brooks,
Graham Naughton, not forgetting Uncle Buck's invaluable tactical knowledge.
WELL DONE BOYS! Lee / Graham
